  • Description

Are you planning a get away with friends, a multi-generational family retreat?
Do you need a place that is toddler and kid friendly?
With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, child-friendly features, and accessibility for the mobility impaired, the Shearwaterhouse has something for everyone!

When you arrive, the view draws you out of the house onto the large, circular deck. From there you see the sandy beach stretching far down the coast.

In front of you, your ocean vista is exceeded only by the skyline. You can hear the ocean roar and see fishing boats off in the distance. And that is just the start of your adventure!

Make yourself at home. The Shearwaterhouse is like your best friend's home: comfortable and welcoming, without being stuffy.

Choose from one of the themed bedrooms; the master Captain's Quarters, the ethereal Mermaid Lounge or the out-of-this-world Under the Sea bedroom.

There is parking for one car at the top entrance to the house for easy unloading. The lower driveway is quite steep so be careful as you walk up to the lower door. We provide tire chucks for your cars for extra care.

Close to everything: You are just a block from the beach and a park on the beach is just ½ a mile away. It's a quick trip down, with sand toys and kites, boogie boards or even your surfing gear. The tide pools are not far away, and we can give you directions to the Secret Beach.

    Young Families:

Babies and toddlers are safe and secure. We have two sturdy baby gates, one secured at the top of the stairs, the other is portable for you to place where you need it most.

The deck is splinter-free, made of trex, and there are no stairs attached to the upper level.

Parents will appreciate finding a pack n' play, a highchair, and bedroom monitor. Other kid accessories include a booster seat & bath toys; and downstairs, on the lower deck is a climbing cube and toddler sandbox for those under 5.

And if you need extra space, our studio cottage (rents separately) next door can accommodate an additional couple.

We provide a well-equipped kitchen, and will send you a brief kitchen inventory to help with your planning

    Mobility-Impaired Travelers:

The main floor of Shearwaterhouse is mobility-friendly with just one step to the outside, and our master bathroom has a walk-in shower.

All living space (dining room, living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and deck are level and on the same floor.

Queen bed and King bed on main level. King bed and double futon on lower level

Come stay at the Shearwaterhouse for that perfect get away!

And don't worry, you can put your feet up.

This is actually one of the best beach house that I have ever stayed in at the coast. It's got one of the nicest view since it's really high up and very kid friendly especially the huge splinter free deck. Thanks Debi and Rob for such a wonderful experience! :) Will definitely come again in the future.

Owner Response: Thank you Ger! We are so happy that you and your family enjoyed the Shearwaterhouse. We would love to have you return, and we offer our returning guests a 10% discount off the seasonal rate.

We had a family vacation at Shearwater with three couples and a two year old. The house was perfect for us and the view is spectacular. Each bedroom has a fun theme, there is a nice BBQ and a hot tub on the deck. There are also many extras including beer mugs in the freezer, toys for toddlers, games, a small slide and sand box on the deck, chocks for the car tires, and a music docking station. Everything was well organized and very clean. The owners were great to work with. They quickly responded to questions, booking was very easy, and they honored our privacy by asking permission for the cleaner to access a storage area while we were staying there. The area above the house is wooded which brought additional wildlife to the area. We enjoyed watching deer and hummingbirds as well as whales swim by, a wonderful combination! We have stayed in other homes in the area that have basement bedrooms that smell moldy. The downstairs bedroom in this home did NOT have that issue. We highly recommend this home to others.

Owner Response: We are so glad that you got the opportunity to enjoy the specialness of our home! To see the whales, hummingbirds and the deer during your trip is fabulous! We appreciate your business, and thank you for your review.

It was a wonderful place to stay and looked just like the pictures used to advertise it.. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. I felt right at home. The detailing in the house matched the feel of the area; nautical and beach like. The viewing room was a fantastic way to watch the ocean and marine life. There was access to wireless, and current technologies to keep connected with the rest of the world, but also the solitude we were looking for in our vacation. The homeowners and other parties involved were easy to communicate with and happy to do so. I would love to return to this property in the future.

Owner Response: We spend a great deal of time and energy in having those things available to our guests that you would have in your own home. It's so frustrating to not have all the equipment one needs to feed a family. We are also lucky to have an amazing housekeeper to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. We are so glad you were comfortable and would love to hear from you again!

We just got back from the Shearwater and already miss the sound of the crashing waves. We felt very comfortable leaving the windows and master sliding door open during the night and really enjoyed the fresh air and sound of the ocean. The house is also perfect for families with small children. The deck is safe for little ones and Debi and Rob have done a great job providing child friendly items (a bucket of toys, baby monitor, Dora pop up tent, bath toys) to help little travelers feel at home. The beach is a very short walk and restaurants, etc are very easy to get to. This house is also a great in between spot for day trips like the aquarium and the Tillamook Cheese tour. All in all, it was great and we would highly recommend it to others. ~Jen Newcastle, CA

Owner Response: Thank you, Jen! We love to hear that the kid-friendly items are being used! We love to leave the slider and/or windows open at night, too. It's just so great to hear the gentle lap of the waves while you sleep, and we have very few bugs so we have opted to leave screens off the windows in favor of the clean, crisp view. We are delighted that you and your little ones enjoyed the Shearwaterhouse.

Review copied from Guest Log;I don't even know where to begin! Our two famiies fell in love with this area with this house, with the Coast. We saw deer every day, picked wild blackberries, slept with the windows open and the ocean in the background. Being so close to the beach, with such an easy access, was more than I could have hoped for ! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful house, it was more than these two families could have asked for and it will definitely be the house we come back to when we come to visit again!

We had a fabulous Christmas holiday at the Shearwater House. Our three adult couple family gathered in this beautiful three large bedroom/bath home with plenty of space for everyone complete with all the amenities to make you very comfortable. The ocean views from the living room, dining room and kitchen are ever-changing and spectacular! The toasty fireplace was wonderful for a family gathering. The front driveway is steep. But, the back door entrance to the house takes you straight in. However, everything seems steep on the Oregon coast. We played board games in the evening. The Monopoly set was brand new. Thank you, Debi! During the day, we walked the beach and greeted many visitors and locals. We ventured out to Depoe Bay to watch the grey whales up close! We also went to the Sea Hag restaurant in Depoe Bay for an awesome New Yearâ??s Eve party. The owner (Jerome) is a mutual family friend and treated us very well. Our dinner was super! Go a sit around the fire pit and enjoy a nice meal. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is a must see in Newport. Be sure and head up to Tillamook to the cheese factory. On your way there or back, stop in Pacific City and Cape Kiwanda to hike up the steep sand dunes to the promontory point for a breathtaking view of the ocean. Finally, the visit would not be complete without mentioning the large hot tub on the deck overlooking the ocean. It has to be experienced to really appreciate how wonderful that was! Thank you Debi and Rob!

This was the third summer in a row that we've spent a week at the Shearwater and we can't wait to return next summer. We're longtime visitors to Lincoln City and have rented several different houses through the years, some oceanfront and some ocean view. Shearwater beats them all hands down.Debi and Rob have thought of everything and they are awesome hosts. Every detail has been taken care of, all you have to do is be ready to relax in a wonderful setting. The views are awesome, it's so much quieter than being oceanfront, and everything is comfortable. You cannot go wrong with the Shearwater - as long as we return to Lincoln City we'll never even consider staying anywhere else!

We had a great stay at the Shearwater house. The weather was miserable but we didn't care we were so warm cozy and comfortable with spectacular views of the high surf. The gas fireplace was wonderful and in fact made us realize our own fireplace at home seriously needs an upgrade. I accidently left my earrings on the night table and Debi, the owner, made sure they were returned to me. Thank you for everything, we had a great time!

Owner Response: Hi Donna! Thanks for such a great review. I especially like "the weather was miserable but we didn't care" part. I hope that you come again, and that the weather will be beautiful for you. Glad the earrings finally made it to you! Debi

We had a semi family reunion at the house last September. Wow we had a great time. My mother in law had not seen the ocean in more than 20 yrs. She loved it. We saw several pods of whales spouting from the kitchen window and ran to deck to watch as they crossed our view for about an hour. So exciting! We even had deer every morning walk up the road and feed. My husband and I slept with the sliding door open all night listening to the waves and simply relaxing to the sounds of the coast. We had a wonderful time and are planning on when we can come and stay again. Thank you for such a special time. xoxo The Rininger's family
